Description

JWC have been involved with the complete (phased) refurbishment of the Guildhall with a total contract sum in excess of £18M.  Works have included the sympathetic refurbishment of this Grade 1 Listed Building to provide office, meeting and commercial space including new kitchens and catering facilities, bar, IT/AV provision to both the (main) Brangwyn Hall and Council Meeting Chamber.  An unobtrusive ventilation system has been installed providing both heating and cooling and the original 1930s’ light fittings have been refurbished to comply with current regulations.

 

All external elevations have had Portland Stone cleaned and re-pointed and internal facings have been re-rendered and roof coverings replaced, also roof drainage improved.

 

Significant structural improvements to improve loading performance and major rooflight installations have increased the usable areas of this iconic building.  Both passenger and goods lifts have been introduced to ensure access for all and DDA compliant hand railing and balustrading in an art deco style have been incorporated.
